Error Correction and Key Post-processing for Quantum Key Distribution

Master Thesis

The goal of the thesis is the evaluation of existing algorithms for error correction and key derivation for the use case of quantum key exchange. In previous publications in this area, the quality of the used algorithms was not the main focus. Thus, results are difficult to compare, and we aim to compare different established algorithms for error correction and key derivation in the field of quantum key exchange.

To achieve this aim, we evaluated different algorithms for error correction and key derivation in theory and applied them to the raw keys. The algorithms should be implemented in Java with an interface to Python. Further, to help users to simply use the gained insights, we implemented the algorithms in CogniCrypt.

This thesis was a collaboration between the CROSSING projects E1 and P4. The involved CROSSING researchers from both projects received the CROSSING collaboration award for this work.
